The College of Law is pleased to announce that a crowdfunding challenge to provide summer scholarships for two College of Law public interest summer interns was a success!
Over a thirty-day period, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and students came together to raise $5,000 in support of these summer scholarships. All-told, 64 DePaul Law supporters made gifts toward the campaign, showing the power our community can wield when we work together.
Alumna Robin B. Wagner (’14) and her wife, Sharon H. Haar, matched each donation dollar-for-dollar. A special thank you to Robin and Sharon for their generous matching gift, and to the Class of 2014, who made contributions to the challenge in honor of their fifth law school reunion.
The funds raised for these scholarships will empower two law students to participate in unpaid internships this summer with a community-based, pro bono and/or legal aid organization. The donations directly support these students, helping them to meet the basic costs of living while allowing them to gain legal training which can be used to affect justice in our community and the world. Through these opportunities, students are prepared and inspired to continue serving the community throughout their legal careers.
