Summer is our favorite time of year. The only stressful part is squeezing in everything we want to accomplish before the cold weather hits. Luckily, we’ve already had a great summer full of fun alumni events, and we still have a few more weeks of fun in the sun coming up! Here’s a look at how DePaul alumni have enjoyed the season so far, and a look ahead at some exciting upcoming events!
Latinx Chapter Tequila and Mezcal Tasting
The Latinx Alumni Chapter got together on the rooftop terrace at the DePaul Center for a fun night sampling several different styles of tequila and mezcal, both of which are styles of alcohol made from fermenting the natural sugars found in agave plants. Alumni were treated to an explanation of how tequila and mezcal are made, as well as tasting notes to look out for as they sampled.
White City Revisited Walking Tour
Ever heard of “Devil in the White City?” Alumni braved 100+-degree temps to go on a fascinating walking tour of Chicago’s Jackson Park, home to many attractions during the famous 1893 World’s Fair.
Sunset Yoga Class on The Quad
Summer is the best time to head outdoors and take a break from your daily gym routine. Our sunset yoga event was a perfect opportunity for alumni to unwind outside after a long day. Even better? It was on The Quad, so alumni had a great excuse to come back to the Lincoln Park Campus for a visit!
Chicago Sky Outing
Even if you’re not a huge sports fan, summer is always the best time to get out and enjoy a great game. Chicagoland alumni got to see a stellar game from three-time WNBA All-Star and DePaul alumna Allie Quigley (EDU ’08) while cheering on the Chicago Sky at Wintrust Arena on Wednesday, August 7.
Bay Area MOMA Tour
Our Bay area alumni visited the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art last week, while our Southern California alumni will get to see iconic television and movie sets during the Paramount Studios tour on Aug. 17.

What better way to spend a summer day than relaxing on a boat while taking in amazing views of your city? Chicagoland alumni are invited on an architecture boat tour on Aug. 17, which will travel along the Chicago River and highlight the city’s fascinating history and architectural heritage.
The new Latinx Alumni Chapter will host a Latinx Heritage Month celebration for Chicagoland alumni on Thursday, Sept. 12, and alumni will also be invited to the House of Blues for our eighth annual Gospel Brunch on Sunday, Sept. 15!
Have you moved away from the city since you graduated? Never fear! Join fellow Blue Demons in the Twin Cities for a special reception with DePaul’s president, A. Gabriel
Esteban, on Thursday, Sept. 12. Alumni will gather at the elegant Minneapolis Club for an evening of fun and re-connection, featuring hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine and soda free of charge. Register today!
Alumni in Arizona are getting together for a guided flashlight tour of the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix on Thursday, Sept. 12. In Washington, D.C., alumni will gather on Sept. 19 for a relaxing sunset cruise along the Potomac River, taking in views of some of the capital city’s most treasured landmarks. New York City alumni will get in a German mood on Thursday, Sept. 26 as they celebrate Oktoberfest at Reichenbach Hall. Prost!
As your summer winds down, we hope you’re able to reconnect with your alma mater at an alumni event. But no matter what you’re up to in the last few weeks of summer, you can always bring Flat DIBS with you!
