On Saturday, May 4, nearly 1,600 members of the DePaul community joined together to celebrate Vincentian Service Day.

Our student body got off to an early start with a morning kick-off in the Sullivan Athletic Center on the Lincoln Park Campus. Before heading to their designated volunteer site, students listened as President A. Gabriel Esteban, PhD, gave remarks on the significance of this special day.

Here are highlights from a few of our alumni service sites:
Boston – Greater Boston Food Bank
Boston-area alumni and friends sorted donations and assembled food kits to be distributed to those in need at the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Chicago – The Anti-Cruelty Society
Alumni and friends gathered in Chicago’s River North neighborhood at The Anti-Cruelty Society and made toys and other crafts for animals in the shelter. While there, volunteers got to visit with some of the animals.
Chicago – Mujeres Latinas en Acción
DePaul’s Latinx alumni community visited Mujeres Latinas en Acción to put together care packages for community members going through crisis intervention and participate in a canvassing campaign around the Pilsen neighborhood.
Chicago – YMCA Metro Chicago
Volunteers assisted with sorting, bagging and distributing groceries for insecure seniors and families at the Kelly Hall YMCA in Humboldt Park.
Denver – Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado
In Denver, our alumni volunteers joined Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado to help with a trail construction project in the Pronghorn Natural Area in Aurora.
Los Angeles – Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
Los Angeles-based alumni gathered at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and helped sort donations and assemble food kits for those in need.
Phoenix – Arizonans for Children Phoenix
In Phoenix, our alumni spent the morning at Arizonans for Children Phoenix, where they helped the children make Mother’s Day cards.
